Register Your Quilt in the Michigan Quilt Index
Every quilt carries a story, and this is your chance to have yours documented, honored, and preserved for generations to come. Add your family heirlooms or recently made quilts to the rich textile heritage of Michigan’s Quilt Index hosted in cooperation with the Michigan Traditional Arts Program at Michigan State University. Bring a handmade quilt to be examined, photographed, and documented by textile experts, quilt historians, and folklorists working to preserve the stories woven into Michigan’s quilting tradition.
This event is open to quilt owners from anywhere in the state and coincides with our September Quilt Camp.
What To Expect:
An opportunity to have your quilt examined and documented by textile experts and historians
A chance to register your quilt’s history in the Quilt Index for future generations
Time spent alongside folklorists and documentarians who care deeply about preserving handmade traditions
Time in community with others passionate about the craft of quilt making
Before You Arrive: To make the most of your time with our documentarians, we recommend completing the quilt information form ahead of your visit and providing as much detail as you can about your quilt’s history.
